Pumpkin patch

Last week, we had a family day at the pumpkin patch. Zeke was in HEAVEN! He got to ride tractors, go on a hay ride, and see the animals.

I think even Dad had fun...showing the boys how to lasso.
It makes me sad that Evan is almost to the age where these things are embarrassing...actually, I should rephrase that. He isn't almost to the stage....he is IN the stage where we provide much embarrassment for him.

Everyone enjoyed the corn maze.

Football Season

It is so hard to believe that fall sports are coming to an end...for our family...that means the "dreaded" wrestling season is very very close!

Evan had his last football game yesterday. What a great season they had! His 5-6th grade team only won one game, but the progress they have made over the past two years is incredible! It is no surprise that Evan is the tallest kid on the team. He is just one big boy!

Another change for our family this year is me taking on the head high school cross country job. I have loved it! I have a great group of kids, and it is fun to do something that I have such great memories from both in high school and college. It has been hard on our family. Ben has been in charge of everything after school - homework, running Evan to football practice, picking Isaac up from Boy Scouts, starting supper etc.... He has a new appreciation of what I have been doing on a daily basis for the past 11 years :) It's been rough on us and we are both looking forward to the end of the season in a few weeks. I feel like I am just running in circles most days. Papers don't always get signed for the kids, permission slips are a day late, the house is a disaster....but we're surviving!

Eli Funny

While I'm on the subject of Eli....

I was talking to his kindergarten teacher and she had two funny stories.

1. There was one day she had to leave the room for a few minutes. When she got back to to the room, it was pretty chaotic and kids were running around everywhere....Except Eli. He was sitting in his seat and he said to her "I know. I tried to tell them, you need to act the same way even when no one is looking."

Oh man Eli. Way to win your teacher over!

2. There were some kids in Eli's class being loud and kind of naughty. Mrs. Smith heard him say to them "You can yell and scream and act however you want at home but when you are at school, you HAVE GOT to be good."

He listens. Sometimes, he really does listen!

Chuckie Cheese Birthday Party!

Last Sunday we celebrated Eli's birthday with my family. We had a Chuckie Cheese Birthday party. Eli had a blast! He loved being treated like a king for the day...

Oh Zeker

He had a camo cake.

And got to take a chance in the Ticket Blaster!

Birthday Boy

On Thursday, we celebrated Eli's 6th birthday. I have said it over and over again…but I have no idea where the time has gone. I know we are busy, but I don't know what the heck we've been doing lately to all of the sudden have a 6 year old!

Eli is the spunky one of the boys. He drives us crazy with his loud voice and constant activity. He is always up to something. Always trying to be one of the big kids….which is when trouble often finds him. He has a heart of gold and loves to help others. He has Great Grandpa John's name and shares his birthday with his great grandma. He is a pretty special kid. He is loving kindergarten and is so happy to finally be in school. He is a good student and people just love Eli. He is social and doesn't have a care in the world!

On Thursday we had Bob and Rhonda and Nanny up. We celebrated Nanny and Eli's birthday with supper and an ice cream cake.

Eli and his "cake" we made him before school.
