30 Facts about Evan

1. Evan started out as a big boy. 9 lbs. 14 oz. How's that for a first baby!

2. He started out big and still is. He has never been on the growth chart...he has made his own chart. He already wears a men's size 10 shoe.

3. Evan was a super easy baby. We didn't know any better, but after seeing other babies and having other babies, he was just perfect. Happy, slept through the night at 8 weeks, easy to potty train, good natured.

4. He has curly hair. He is the only one of our babies that had curly hair and still does. He used to have blonde curls. Now he has dark, thick curly hair.

5. He has freckles.

6. Evan has brown eyes.

7. Evan has always been a very caring child. I could list a million things he does for other people to make them happy. When he was little and I would be upset about something, he would draw a picture and put in on my nightstand or dresser. When our neighbor's dog died, he cried and then wrote them a letter about how he was going to miss Sam. In first grade, he had a friend that had a fire in his house. Evan came home and gathered up some toys and brought them to him the next day ... all on his own.

8. Evan is very responsible. He walks home after school and does his dog chores without being asked.

9. Evan loves dogs.

10. When Evan was one, his birthday cake had a puppy and a ball on it....those are the words he could say.

11. When he was 3, he became obsessed with dinosaurs. He could tell you what every dinosaur was and how to pronounce their name.

12. Evan loves to talk. When he is one-on-one, he will TALK your ear off. He loves to sit in the front seat and just talk...about anything and everything.

13.  He is the only (KNOCK ON WOOD) that has ever broken a bone. He broke his arm when he was in 1st grade.

14. When he was a baby, we used to LAUGH when he said "I DO YIT"

15. He is an awesome big brother! His brothers look up to him and we couldn't ask for a better role model for the younger boys. He is just awesome.

16. When we brought Isaac home from the hospital, he sat by the cradle and said "Bay Brudder so Timey" It was the cutest thing ever!

17.  He thinks Zeke is the smartest baby ever. He loves to talk about him and brag about him.

18.  He is concerned about making other people happy. He is the first to compliment me for various reasons - supper was good, picking his clothes out, making his bed. He often says "thank you so much...I really appreciate it"

19.  He is a good student. He works very hard in school and strives to do his best.

20.  He often brings home awards that says he exercises good character. In 2nd grade, he brought home a t-shirt that said "kid of character" from the elem. fun day. They picked a student out of each grade and he was the 2nd grade winner.

21.  He worries a lot. In fact, he missed three days of school this year for just that...he was getting tummy aches and we finally got him to talk about what was bothering him. There were some girls that were being "bullies" to other kids and he had witnessed it. He was so upset about it but didn't know what to do. After a trip to the doctor and ruling other things out, we figured out that he was just worried/upset. That's what kind of boy he is.

22.  He is very appreciative. He is the fist to thank us for doing stuff for him. He is constantly saying thank you.

23.  He is a good friend. When his friend was sick and missed the school field trip, he spent his money on some candy for him.

24.  Teachers often say how mature he is. He is one of the youngest in his class, and has always acted very mature.

25.  He is tall. He is at least a head taller than his friends and almost as tall as many of his teachers.

26.  He used to suck his thumb. In fact he just quit about a year ago.

27. Evan loves sports. He especially LOVES football. He will watch a football game from start to finish.

28. He is a Packer fan. Ben and I don't really follow NFL but he somehow developed his own love.

29. He sees the good in others and never wants to hurt anyone's feelings. It makes him a good friend to his peers and an all around great person.

30. He loves his dad. LOVES him. Wants to be like him. Loves learning about science and whatever Ben has to tell him. I am glad he picked such a good role model to be like.

That time of Year

Baseball is gearing up to be in full swing. Evan had his second game last night. They played in Plainfield and showed a lot of improvement from the game last week. Evan had a hit and did great at first base.He had about four or five plays that he got the runner out - caught a couple plays and scooped up the ball and tagged the base for outs as well.
