One week...

So, I had my appointment today. I am already dialated to 3 cm. and my doctor didn't think I would make it until next Wednesday. Ben and I are starting to freak out a bit...we aren't ready for a baby quite yet! We have to get our bags packed and our lesson plans done and ready. We are busy until Oct. 3rd...so Spike, we'll meet you then! Until then, I guess I will be hanging out with my legs crossed!

My belly looks lumpy in this picture...really it is just my shirt. Yes, I know I am huge...no, I am not having twins...And if you are wondering, yes I am very uncomfortable. My uterus is out of room!

October 3rd is the day!!!

If Spike does not make his appearanc before October 3rd, I will be induced on at that day. The doctor said that with high blood pressure, she prefers to induce at 39 weeks. She asked what we were doing on the 3rd and if we could be at the hospital at 7 a.m! It seems so real now. I guess we knew it was coming and he would be here soon....but now there is an actual day! We are getting pretty excited and cannot wait to meet this little guy.

Pictures from Sunday

Here are some pictures of the boys from Sunday. Evan is really into driving his remote control truck. He loves to ramp it and he is really getting into it.

Isaac on the other hand prefers to ride his bike and he is getting pretty good at it. Really, he just enjoys being outside doing anything he can. He just grabs the first shoes he can find and heads out...as you can see from the pictures, he doesn't care if they match, if they are the right feet or if they even fit for that matter...he definitely is his own person!

Weekend fun and Spike news

This weekend we went on our final "trip" as a family of four. We went down to the science center in DesMoines. The kids had a ton of fun...I think we have two little scientists on our hands! We went to a program "crazy chemistry" and Evan got picked from the audience to be a helper. It was pretty cute...he even got to wear safety goggles! He was so proud of himself!

Isaac really got into it too. We went to an IMAX movie about caves. In the movie, we were up above a cliff and there was water down below. He was sitting in his chair, eyes as big as could be, and then asked me "How we gonna get down from here? Are we gonna get wet?" It was pretty funny! This picture is from the "hands-on" section of the science center. There were various items that they could feel and put into the proper bins, such as "fuzzy, hard, round, etc" He found a scarf, much like his blankies...This picture captures exactly how he picks which blankie he uses to suck his thumb. He only wants blankies with "soft strings." He goes through his blankies and tests them, much like taste testing fine wine...this scarf met his approval for soft strings....

Spike Update

I had an appointment on Friday. It was very eventful to say the least. I left the appointment with two perscriptions, a weekly non stress test, and an ultrasound scheduled for next week. I had a bladder infection which I didn't know I had (perscription #1). My blood pressure was still high, so I was put on a high blood pressure medication (perscription #2) and moved into the "high risk" category, being diagnosed with gestational hypertension. I mentioned to the doctor that I thought I was huge, which I am... When she measured me, I measured 37 weeks instead of 34....hmmm....three weeks difference. I casually mentioned to her that my first baby was 9 lbs. 14 oz...her eyes were huge and she said, "oh my....we better take a look at this baby too" so she scheduled an ultrasound to check size. I do that next week. Now, since I am in a high risk category, I get to start my weekly appointments now and have a weekly non-stress test. I went to labor and delivery for the NST and Spike passed with flying colors. So, I guess the important part is that Spike is well and growing good, I feel good, I just have had every issue imaginable this time around. You would think that after three times, it would get easier. Guess not....

Here are some more pictures from Saturday....
