First Day
Eli was up at 6:15 this morning....with a smile on his face! He also had his bookbag on since that time as well. He has been waiting a long time for this day. Finally, he gets to go to school with Kami (our neighbor girl and good friend). I can't wait to post some pictures on here...they were so cute this morning. I got a text from Kami's grandma, the one who is transporting them back and forth and she said they had a super day. I am excited to see Eli tonight so he can tell us all about it!

One more bag
There is one more bag in the bookbag pile tonight. Eli has his first day of preschool tomorrow. He is going to attend a three year old preschool in Waverly one morning a week. He is so excited to finally be going to school like the big boys!
Shake it for Me....
Not sure which part is funnier...Zeke dancing or Eli coming out with his t-shirt, underwear and Christmas socks (on August 30th) ?

Thunder in the Valley
After our week of sickness, we decided that Sunday would be a good day to get outside and get some fresh air. We went to the Waterloo Airport to watch the "Thunder in the Valley" air show. Our jaws were dropped open most of the day. The kids loved the planes but also had a blast climbing in all the military vehicles and seeing all the army men. We met some friends there so the kids had so much fun "hanging" out with their friends and so did the adults!

Rough Start
It has been a rough start to the school year. Out of the 8 school days, three of them would have been sick days (actually, four of them but luckily we don't go to school on Saturdays).
The first week of school, Eli came home from daycare on Wednesday - first day of school - with a fever. I took him to the walk in clinic that night and he tested positive for strep. When I got home that night, Ben informed me that Zeke had been laying on the floor most of the evening and felt warm. The kid doesn't stop moving, so that was a huge red flag. Luckily, Ben's mom could come up and watch the two little boys on the second day of school. It is a bit hard to call in sick on the second day and do sub plans when you don't really know the kids, the material or the schedule well. Zeke's rapid strep test came back negative but the culture eventually came back positive. At this point, two kids on antibiotics. On the second day of school, Isaac came home and said he didn't feel well. He had a fever and was really achy. Ben took him to the walk in clinic and he tested negative for strep. It never did come back positive, so he must have had a virus. Off to Grandma's house on Friday. As hard as it is to call in sick on the second day of school, it's not much easier on the third day.
By Sunday, everyone seems to be feeling better. The start of last week went well...
Fast forward to Thursday night, we were getting ready to eat supper. I go to put Zeke in his high chair and he vomits all over. Thinking maybe it's a fluke or his teeth, we get him cleaned up and feed him some supper...15 minutes later, same thing. Great. Another sick kid. Ben calls in sick to stay home with him Friday, the 8th day of school. Zeke sleeps through the night, but continues vomiting on Friday. Friday night, Evan says he doesn't want to go to football game with me because his tummy hurts. He starts vomiting around 8:00 pm Friday night and it continues into the day on Saturday. Luckily, we don't work on Saturdays!
As of today, well, I'm not even going to say it.....
We did enjoy the air show yesterday and we were all up and at it today....
It's a new week. Here's hoping it is a smoother rest of the year.....

The Boy of Many Hats
Zeke is really in to hats lately. He is often found wearing a hat he finds around the house. In the pictures below, he is wearing my Cubs hat from my Chicago trip in high school. It has many "fond" memories....as it is the hat we got complimentary after our high school chorus singing the "Star Spangled Banner" at the Cubs game got bumped because the Osmonds were in town. Still pretty bitter about that one...
He does make the hat look pretty darn cute, even if it does stir up some bitter feelings :)

We love Tucker
Even though his big tail knocks us over and his giant tongue covers us in dog slobber daily. We really did luck out on picking such a nice, 93 lb. puppy for the boys to grow up with.

Real life
Have I mentioned this kid is into everything???
I believe in naptime
I took a few minutes of my morning to follow Zeke around with my camera. This is no joke....this is how he spends his day....He goes from one thing to the next.
Sitting in his toy box
It is hard to be too mad at him...
Trying to get downstairs....
Trying to get to the lightswitch
Scaling the wall....
Digging through the trash...
In the junk drawer....
