Birthday Boy

I am an emotional mess today. I didn't think Zeke's 2nd birthday would be so hard on me. This has never happened. We have never had our "baby" turn into a toddler without the prospect of another baby in the future. There was always discussion of "one more". I didn't let myself get too emotional over it...I would have another baby. Now that we are 99.9% sure that he is "The Baby", this is much harder than I imagined. So...what do I do to make things better today? I look at pictures from April 26, 2010.

This was my first look at our Big Boy...I LOVE that Ben got a picture!

BIG BOY!

Until I looked at these, I had forgotten how long it took Eli to even touch Zeke. He wanted nothing to do with him until the second day he visited.

And I LOVE this picture. It is still in a frame two years later. I love it because this was the first time we were a family of 6 and we always will be a family of 6...

And look at that chub! He was one giant bruise...from his head all the way down every rib. He was such a big boy!

And where did these little boys go? Look at them!

My all time FAVORITE picture from this day! Isaac used to rub his top lip on things that were soft. We would be shopping and he would be rubbing things on his lip to see if they were soft or not. That is EXACTLY what was happening in this picture. It reminds me how soft newborn babies are. Oh my heart...

Happy Birthday, Zeke Rian! We love you so much!

Zeke's Dirt Party

Against my wishes....Zeke is almost two.

We had his party today. Insead of a real cake, I made a dirt cake. Perfect for all the little boys. Zeke LOVED it!

Zeke was so cute when he opened up his gifts. Everything he opened, he said "OOOHHHH"

Each of the kids got their own shovel with dirt cake and worm. They thought that was pretty cool!

First Sentence

It is nearly impossible for me to fathom that Zeke is going to be two next week. TWO?!?! How does that happen? I think I have been "forcing" him to remain a baby when all he wants to do is be a big boy. He is closer and closer to being a big boy than my baby. Yesterday morning, he said his first sentence...

The older boys were eating breakfast and he walked into the kitchen and said (shouted) "I want toast" as clear as could be. It was HILARIOUS! We all stopped what we were doing and just looked around. It took a second to realize that it came from Zeke. Everyday, his vocabulary has been growing and now he is starting to put words together.

At bedtime last night, he was in his bedroom trying to pull his crib out from the wall. He was saying over and over "Paci where are you?"

And here is a video of him looking for paci. Have I mentioned before that Eli is kind of loud? See if you can hear him in the background. He is in the other room....just a small picture of what our house sounds like on a daily basis...Eli's voice carries!

Playing Together

And sometimes it's hard to get mad when the kids destroy things when they are actually playing together. Perfect for a rainy day...bedroom turned into a giant tent.
