Blizzard...

We were in a blizzard this morning. Before the winds really started, the boys had fun playing in the 6 inches of snow that we got (on top of the other snow that we already had). Ben built them an igloo...when I looked outside, I couldn't see the boys...only Ben, digging in the snow. The boys decided that it was much warmer under the house in the wood pile. Not sure who had more fun, Ben or the boys!








Update on the spit up....





Eli is now taking a medication to relax the muscles in his stomach and speed digestion. That was working pretty well, but he was still vomiting clear acidy stuff. The doctor also prescribed something to neutralize the acid in his stomach. He is still spitting up, but it isn't projectile and it doesn't smell like vomit (more like formula) which is a relief. Hopefully as the meds builid in his system, we can eliminate more of it. I imagine that if he still isn't putting on weight we will end up in Iowa City to see a specialist. So far, this seems to be working alright.

Spit up...

Eli is having major trouble with his spitting up. When we went to the doctor on Tuesday, we found out that he has lost weight from the last time we were in (he was 14 lbs. 6 oz a week and a half ago and on Tuesday he was 13lbs. 15oz.) He is already taking Prevacid for reflux so the doctor wanted to look a little further. He was concerned that it was something that would require surgery (pyloric stenosis). He ordered an upper GI, barium swallow test for Friday. Luckily, the test showed that Eli will not need surgery. It did show that he pylorus muscle is having spasms and he also has reflux. The combination of the two are causing massive amounts of spit up!

So, we will wait and see what the doctor wants to do with him on Monday. In the meantime, the Prevacid has completely worn off and he is puking everywhere. It is no longer just spit up....he is projectile vomiting. He was in his high chair and it flew out of his mouth and nose and hit the floor in front of him. This morning when we got him up, it was all over him and the bed. When he lays on his back, it flies straight up into the air! Poor kid. The relieving part is that he smiles and giggles when he is done. So, it doesn't seem to bother him too much. I am going to make an appointment for him to be seen at the dr. tomorrow because we can't have this continue for much longer.

Eli 4 months old

Baptism

Eli was baptized today. All went well...there was only one point during the actual baptism that I was really worried we were in for a disaster. As Father Mike was talking, Isaac was up at the water bowl...shaking it, blowing on it, looking at his hand from underneath, etc. I thought for sure the whole thing was going to tip!

Eli was so cute. The whole time that Father Mike was talking to the church, as he poured water on his head and put oil on him, he laughed at him. The whole church was laughing! It was so cute.

Daddy is so funny!

Here are some cute giggles from Eli. He was laughing so hard right before I got the camera. He is growing so fast! He loves to laugh and he is so attentive. He doesn't miss a thing! He is more interested in toys now, too. Tonight he was doing tummy time and he was laughing at his reflection in his toy with a mirror on it. It was so cute. It is hard to believe that tomorrow, Eli will be 4 months old!
