With all the attention on the older two....Eli must have decided it was his turn to pull something to bring the attention back on him.

I was making supper and Eli was in the boys' room playing trucks. I was checking on him periodically. At some point between me checking on him, he went to the bathroom without me knowing.

Ben got home and Eli came running out with a wet toothbrush. When I looked at it closely, I mentioned to Ben that I thought I threw that one away. At the same time, Ben and I took off towards the bathroom with our worst fear realized...The floor was soaking wet, Eli was soaking wet and everything once in the trash was floating in the toilet including a diaper and a broken yo-yo. So, the rest of the story I would rather not think about....the toothbrush was wet and although I never saw him do it and would like to never think about it again...I am positive that he dipped it in the toilet. That is the only access he had to water. Pleasant thought, huh?

Really, we do try very hard to keep our kids safe. I am amazed at how quickly things like this happen. It wasn't like I was napping on the couch and not paying attention to my children, I was trying to feed my family supper!

You're My Brother

The boys had a great day at school. When I asked them what the best part of the whole day was, they both agreed it was playing with each other at recess.

The conversation at supper went like this:

Isaac: "No one would play with me at recess"
Evan: "It's because you were following me around. You wouldn't play with them."
Isaac: "Well they would have played with me, but I wanted to play with you, cuz you're my brother."
Evan: "That's o.k."

There is something special about brothers. It's pretty cool.

First Day

I knew this day would come. It is still just so hard for me to believe that I have a 2nd grader and a kindergartener! I just don't know where the time has gone. This morning went very well. Both boys were so excited which made things a lot harder on me!

Evan loves school so there was no doubt that he would be excited to go. Isaac did a complete 360 from last year. He has been so excited for school! He was not shy at all, he walked in did what he should and sat down next to some little boys in his class. I can tell already that he is a lot more confident this year and making friends a lot easier. He has been more social this summer at the park and pool making friends. What a relief!

So apparently this is the difference between kindergarten and 2nd grade. Apparently pictures are fine until you are with your friends!

Evan

Evan has been exercising a little independence lately which has been good at times and challenging at times (I'll save that for another time....it is too exhausting to think about right now). One of the things he has vocalized is wanting long hair...not real long, I think just shaggy long like the older kids. So, this summer, instead of fighting him about it, we let him grow it out. He loves the curls and I think it is cute when it curls too...It is hard to show it in pictures, but here he is with his "long" hair. He usually has the summer buzz cut. He is such a hot and sweaty kid, we have tried to talk him into getting it shorter, but it just isn't happening.

New tree

Last year I recieved a tree (gift certificate) from my parents for my graduation from grad school. Tonight we finally were able to purchase a maple tree and get it planted in the front yard. The boys enjoyed helping...of course, with all the help, things take about 3 times as long.

Dirty

I suppose this is a boy thing....but this is how dirty the kids are EVERY night that they play outside. It is on his arms, legs, face, hair and clothes....

More Eli

Here is a continuation of Eli talking to us. As you can see from the video...he thinks he has to have a cheesy smile everytime I pull out the camera!

Finished for now....

The bathroom is as finished as it will get until we tile around the tub...The plumber came this morning to hook up the toilet and we are now able to call it a working bathroom!

Bathroom Progress

Our master bathroom is very close to being done. We are just needing to caulk the shower, put the rest of the trim up and get the toilet in. The whirlpool bathtub willl be finished at a later timel. Ben still needs to tile around it but the shower and toilet should be usable in the next week or so!

Bib Overalls

I love baby boys in striped bib overalls....

I needed some pictures of Eli in his bibs...all of the boys have worn this pair and I have pictures of the other two in them. Today was Eli's turn.

He is having trouble smiling for the camera lately. It is rather cheesy!

Sometimes it isn't the smiles that make cute pictures.
